August 2012 – Peak District Heather

From mid August parts of the Peak District are transformed with blankets of fabulous purple heather. If we’re really lucky we get fabulous, warm light in the golden hours around sunrise and sunset. This light really brings the landscape alive. I’ve been lucky enough to capture a few of those evenings over the past couple of weeks. Although some outings have provided no light. I’ve visited Derwent Edge, Over Owler Tor, Millstone Edge, Higger Tor and Curbar Edge. These locations are all in the Eastern or Northern area of the Dark Peak, which I live close to. This is lucky as sunset is now getting earlier so I can’t venture as far after work. I’ve uploaded new images to the Dark Peak Eastern gallery.
